Today, I'm happy to announce that version 4.5 of the JHipster Mini-Book is now available! You can download it for free from InfoQ.
This version has a brand new chapter on building microservices with JHipster. It also shows you how to run all your apps with Docker Compose and deploy them to Heroku.
The microservices chapter is similar to a blog post I wrote recently titled "Develop a Microservices Architecture with OAuth 2.0 and JHipster".
If you'd like to see a demo of the completed microservices example, you can find it on Heroku at okta-gateway.herokuapp.com. You can log in as an admin with username minibook and password HipMicros18.
I decided not to update the first three sections of the book to use the latest version (4.14.1) of JHipster. This decision came from trying and failing to upgrade 21-Points Health. After I spent a couple of hours trying to do it, I figured I was wasting my time it'd be better to update everything for JHipster 5.0 (now in beta!). I plan to start updating all chapters in the book for 5.0 in the coming weeks. My goal is to have v5.0 of the mini-book published by JHipster Conf.
In other JHipster news, I've been working on the Ionic Module for JHipster and wrote a blog post about how to use it.
Also, JHipster committers Deepu K Sasidharan and Sendil Kumar N recently released their book on Full Stack Development with JHipster. I haven't read it yet, but I did write the forward. At 380 pages, it's likely to contain all the information you ever wanted to know about JHipster!
Finally, I'd like to congratulate the JHipster project for reaching 10,000 stars on GitHub today! If you're a fan and haven't starred it yet, now is an excellent opportunity to do so.
We have just reached 10,000 stars on GitHub!
